Lupetin & Unatin attorney Brendan Lupetin is representing the widow of veteran Patrick W. Ferris, in a wrongful death medical malpractice lawsuit filed against the United States of America’s Veteran’s Administration. Ferris’ recent wrongful death and medical malpractice lawsuit was recently filed in federal court.
Gwendolyn M. Ferris, the widow of decedent Patrick W. Ferris, filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania alleging her husband suffered a wrongful death due to the negligence of the VA Healthcare System.
Brendan Lupetin’s recent complain shares that decedent, Patrick W. Ferris, suffered from a treatable disease, but was not followed up on in the period of time he should have been. Ferris began experiencing spells of dry coughing in April of 2013. A CT scan was performed of Mr. Ferris’ lungs. This revealed very early scarring caused by hypersensitivity pneumonitis. At the time, the radiologist recommended that a follow up CT be performed within 6 months. This was not carried out for years. Unfortunately, Mr. Ferris’ condition worsened. In April of 2017 he finally underwent another CT scan that revealed late-stage pulmonary fibrosis, which culminated in his death in February of 2017.
With the representation of Lupetin & Unatin, Ferris’ widow is suing the United States. Negligence and personal injury actions against the United States are governed by the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA).
“Ferris was a sergeant in the Air Force who served at least one tour in country of Vietnam,” Lupetin shares. “More recently he was also the president of Vietnam Veterans Inc” Lupetin shares.
